Truth in the Kitchen

America is often called the melting pot, but I’m going to set the record straight: America is now the Multi-Cooker pot. That’s right, I said it. The United States of America has been updated for the 21st century.

America is a complex place. In fact, America is a complex a vast sprawling building complex if you will and darn is it interesting. Think of it less like a single kitchen a single culture and more like an interconnected high-rise, where countless separate units (or in this case cultures), hallways, and systems all operate under one roof, sometimes harmoniously, sometimes bumping up against the drywall.

The Universe called in maintenance for the earth and we’re starting with America.

Fact of the matter is that there is no one-size-fits-all way of life in the land of the free because the reality is, this lack of a single mold breeds both great good and great evil.

On the bright side, this multicultural collage has provided Americans a (still) functional engine of innovation, a rich exchange of global traditions, and a dynamic cultural footprint that inspires the world but it also delivered deep-seated social polarization, systemic growing pains, and the constant, exhausting friction of communities struggling to understand one another.

Anything is possible in America and to many, that sheer unpredictability is scary. I understand that. The balance of influence is always in motion, and the walls of our shared complex are constantly being remodeled. There are many paths to becoming American, and while the blueprints are constantly changing, the next generation holds the keys to keeping the lights on.

The burden of destiny rests in the coming generation.
